A long long time ago when I was a mere 17 years old, I joined the Army. I didn't have money for college, and there wasn't much opportunity at home, so it felt like the right thing to do. I've always been a bit adventurous, and they were willing to pay for my education! So off I went. I met my husband very soon after - he was also in the Army. It was love at first site, and after 3 weeks of dating, we were married! (That was over 18 years ago!) A couple years later we had our first child, and we decided that I would get out of the service to raise our child at home. During that time I held some oddball jobs - I sold life insurance, I was a realtor for a while, I even sold water softeners! And we had another son a few years later. Then we were transferred overseas to Germany. The oddball jobs were high in demand and short in supply, so I decided it was time to go to college! I started my degree in Computer Science. Eventually I ended up working as a Systems Engineer on an Army contract, and did that even after we transferred back to the U.S. Computers, networks, databases, web sites....this was my life for almost 6 years. Then my creative itch started... and I decided I wanted to be an Interior Designer! So... I went back to school! I recieved my B.A. in Interior Design and went to work for an architect. I loved it!! Then the Army moved us. So I started my own business as an Interior Designer. I worked mostly on commercial projects, and I also taught courses at the college. Then the Army moved us. To Korea! Again - jobs in high demand and low supply. Well, I decided it was time to get back into my crafting that I had long neglected. I started stamping and making cards and was having a great time. I came upon SplitCoast Stampers (SCS) and quickly discovered a community of crafters that all shared my passion! Then I started blogging!! I needed a name for my blog. As I've been in the Army, and married to it for half my life, I opted for the name Sgt (Sergeant) Stamper. Actually, I left the Army as a Specialist, but it didn't have the same ring, so I promoted myself. You can see my blog - Stamp Happy with Sgt Stamper. Not long after I started blogging, I was invited to join a design team by the owner of Our Daily Bread Designs. I was having the time of my life! And as I kept moving along in blogland, I wanted to change my blog design. So I did. I wanted to add watermarks to my images to help copyright them. So I did. And as I did, people started asking me where I was getting it done. Then the owner of 2RedBananas contacted me because she saw one of my hand drawn images - and asked me to be an illustrator for her company. My very own stamp line!! Never in a million years would I have thought that this is where I'd end up. But I could not be happier!! Thanks for taking a moment to get to know me... Hugs, Jami
